I'd like your feedback. . . .

Dear Blog Readers:

I'd like to start doing a giveaway on my blog each time I have a new greeting card available. To explain the process a little bit, whenever I complete a painting and decide that it's worthy of being photographed, I take it to Aaron Mullins at Mullins Editions in Clovis, California to be professionally photographed and archived. Then, I can request prints in a variety of sizes and on a variety of styles and surfaces, as well as small greeting cards. Usually, I get cards of each newly photographed piece and it is those cards that I'd like to use as my giveaways. Pictured here today are "Rose Window" and "Fowl Weather Friends", both relatively newly photographed works that I have in the Ag Show at Madera Arts Council Circle Gallery in Madera, California.

I will give one of each of these cards to a randomly selected reader who responds (in the form of a comment) to these 2 questions:

(1.) What do you like most about my "Mixed Messages" blog?

(2.) What do you wish I would change/improve/update on my "Mixed Messages" blog?

The winner will be selected on November 1st, 2010. I look forward to reading your comments and making some improvements to my blog.

  1. Kathleen, Your cards are lovely! I enjoyed the rich colors and complex compositions.

I don't think your header is doing it's job. I would study it and consider a different arrangement.

Do you sell your designs for commercial uses? They would certainly work beautifully on many things.

  2. Hi Kathleen -

I found you through Alyson's class. I will be sure to follow you from now on!

    1. Your blog looks pretty good. I like your title and enjoyed seeing your art. The mannequins are amazing!

    2. Oh, this is hard. One thing I learned in Alyson's blog triage class is to use captions under all my photos especially works of art. Put the title, size, medium, year, etc.

  3. Terry, thank you for commenting and for the compliment about my cards. Also, thanks for suggesting changes in my header. It's the one part of the template I can't get it to do what I want it to do. I'll keep trying!

I don't sell them as yet but I have aspirations of using some for fabric, among other things. I need to find a reasonable source of products. I do have prints and cards.

  4. Claudine, thanks for responding. I'm glad you enjoyed the mannequins. :)
Thank you also for reminding me about the need to label all the photos. I'd read that in the blog but completely forgot to do it. I will add them from now on since there is a caption option on Blogger now.

  6. Hi Kathleen,
I love your cards - so complex and the colors are so rich. I like the look and feel of your blog and I agree with Terry about your header. Creating my headed was the most difficult part for me. Keep at it! And Claudine's suggestion about labeling your photos is important. There is so much to remember and to do. Enjoy!

  7. I wish I knew what the real purpose of the header WAS so that I could make sure it was "doing it's job". Since I don't know, I'm not sure how to fix it even if I can. :( Such a steep learning curve in so many areas of marketing and blogging recently.
